The practice of throwing our leftovers in the garbage is a common practice, followed
intensely and without any moral respect – mostly by affluent societies.
No respect for the states that, for example, political conflicts force their citizens to
lack food, so that they do not have anything to eat, and that it is impossible to
survive. But there is another dimension to the food waste chain. The one about the environment! With the food waste chain at the core of biodiversity and ecosystem degradation, as well as water pollution, the Tidalflowart and its partners want to address the issue.
The reality of 700 million undernourished people worldwide and 40% of food produced being lost at some stage in the supply chain, is clearly not a problem that the arts community can solve on its own. But the artists sensitivity, in the face of an existing problem, urges us to reconsider the way we deal with our precious food and the natural resources that are being wasted.
The Tidal flow art’s art team through visuals, activates and transforms their concerns into works, their works will visualize the problem and urge action, to the society.
How can we generate new ideas and actions for a sustainable world? How can art act as stimulant for a more sustainable way of living?
The project Waste No Food, springs from one of the most complex and urgent challenges of our day: how to create safe, inclusive and sustainable societies.
8 artists are contributing works to the exhibition, that in different ways encourage dialogue and engagement with sustainability issues of local and global urgency.
