tidal flow art is an nonprofit organization based in Athens since 2016, dedicated to producing contemporary art exhibitions and art projects as a catalyst for discussion, inspiration and impact.
We organize a series of group and solo exhibitions, each focusing on themes relevant in current artistic practice, with a wide range of topics including environmental, social and political issues.
The shows have been organized in various locations, in industrial spaces, conventional art exhibition buildings, open spaces, derelict mansions etc. The building itself often plays the role of both stage and protagonist, compelling us to experiment with the typical exhibition format, and offering visitors a diverse experience depending on the ambience of each space.
The present epoch will perhaps be above all the epoch of space. We are in the epoch of simultaneity: we are in the epoch of juxtaposition, the epoch of the near and far, of the side-by-side, of the dispersed,”
Michel Foucault, ‘Of Other Spaces: Utopias and Heterotopias’, 1967
Based on a common vision, shared values and a belief in adopting an open, human and accessible approach by creating a personal relationship with the audience Jenny Tsoumpri and Penelope Kouvara will use the experiences from the past to face today’s challenges. By doing so, tidalflowart embraces new possibilities and chances for the artists and the global art scene, resulting in a new dynamic on the Greek and international art scene.
Being friends for over 20 years, Jenny Tsoumpri and Penelope Kouvara have collaborated on many artistic projects and share the same values and the same vision of running tidalflowart’s programme.
